Hi there,
Born and raised in Peru, I've known one of the best cultures in the world, feeling very proud of it. Despite this, since a very young age, I've witnessed disparities in the health system of my country that I want to solve with the help of holistic and valuable education in STEM. I am currently studying Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Biomedical Engineering and am part of the University of Kansas Honors Program.
Due to the experimental and practical nature of my field, I've been involved as a research assistant at the Berkland Lab since January 2023 until the present. I was a volunteer during Spring 2023, and continued in Summer 2023 as part of the class C&PE 661: Undergraduate Honors Research. Learn more about my research experience here.
I've also had experience in tournaments and contests involving soft skills such as effective communication and teamwork. These kinds of experiences drive me to continue advocating causes that are important to me, such as access to health in my country. Learn more about recognitions and honors here.
I'm Maryann
